The Party Predictor (4/8) - 2008

Ahh...2008.  The year I joined Club Penguin.  Let's dive right in and examine the year that was.

New Years Fireworks:
Given that fireworks appear several times a year for different events and are traditional for several holidays, I believe they will continue to light the skies for several years to come.

Winter Fiesta:
See my 2007 post for my view.

Save the Migrator Project:
Unless bad luck strikes twice or my Time Trekker theory amazingly becomes reality, I don't believe so.

Sub-Marine Party:
Given that this party was a once and done one, I don't think it will come back, unfortunately.  However, I believe parties where water is a prominent factor will continue.

Saint Patricks Day:
See my 2006 post for my take.

April Fools Party:

Rockhopper's Arrival Party:
While obviously not under this name, as I said before, I believe pirate parties will continue.  One thing I forgot to mention in one of my previous explanations on the subject was how Disney could use a pirate party to their advantage.  The Walt Disney Company recently announced that the fith Pirates of the Caribbean film will sail into theaters in July 2015.  While some may not like the idea, having a pirate party to coincide with the release could be a great marketing strategy and could boost awareness of another Disney virtual world - Pirates of the Caribbean Online.  Personally, I can't wait for this latest installment and wouldn't mind seeing Jack Sparrow's adventures influence Club Penguin.  This could bring new hope to those who want a pirate celebration.

Medieval Party:
This party is another traditional one.  It also has one of the biggest strengths of all the parties - constant evolution.  Every year something new has happened which is great - but there is one problem.  Last year's storyline, which incorporated Scorn the Dragon was overtop and to be rather honest - epic.  It was rather intense.  That lends itself to a problem though - how do you top that?  I think that if we get the Medieval Party back this year (which is highly probable) there won't be a new storyline.  Gary did say Scorn could return.  If there is a new story, I'm almost sure it will incorporate him wanting revenge.

On a side note though, one way the party could change is if we actually go back in time with the Time Trekker.  While in the storyline last year, Scorn brought back what Club Penguin used to look like (so the designs wouldn't change), it might be cool to have the ability to go back to the 2013 island while the party is still going on like we did at the Prehistoric Party.  Also, with the amount of times we get to transform into things now days (which is a welcome addition by me), we could turn into dragons this year.

Water Party:
See my 2007 post for my take.

Music Jam:
This party holds sentimental value to me because I joined Club Penguin during the Jam in '08.  While I believe it will return because it has become traditional and is very popular, what version of it is harder to pin point.  There is the original Music Jam and then there is the Ultimate Jam - both are very similar, but the former is all Club Penguin while the latter is an updated version which also advertises something - The Ultimate Jam: Make Your Mark Contest and the show "Shake it Up" which both come from the Disney Channel.  While Disney hasn't confirmed if the contest will be returning (if memory serves me right, Disney has put on this contest for two years in a row), I am pretty sure "Shake it Up" will still be airing in the summer, giving reason for the Ultimate Jam to promote it and thus, making it highly probable for CeCe and Rocky to return.

However, while I'm guessing that while the contest and/or show is still running it will be promoted, what happens when the two end*?  Will Club Penguin revert back or will it be to late for them to turn back to the original name?  The room designs for the Ultimate Jam would not need to be updated given that they are all Club Penguin - none of them promote the contest and show directly - the logo and two of the mascots are the only things/penguins that do that.  That means that when promotion is no longer needed for the show, the decorations can stay the same, the logo may be updated (if it remains Ultimate Jam remains the name and it is not switched back to Music Jam), and Rocky and CeCe will no longer waddle around.  Only time will tell.

* Disney has not canceled the show or contest yet so this is merely speculatory.

Penguin Games:
While I did touch on the fact that I believe parties that have some correlation to sports will continue, it is worth talking about this party.  It was obviously done in 2008 to coincide with the summer Olympics in Beijing - not to advertise but just to be a companion with them.  Since the games did not return in 2012 when the summer Olympics were in London, it is possible they've been scrapped.**  I think it could be interesting to see The Winter Penguin Olympics in 2014 when the games are in Russia, but that party may not occur, given that there was no event to coincide with 2010 Vancouver games.  I think this party could be a great way to brag on Club Penguin's parent page - it could be called a way to encourage teamwork and instill an active lifestyle in children's minds.

Some images for Club Penguin's homepage promoting a Greek party were recently leaked.  I believe this could make sense for an Olympic Party. First of all, if you didn't know already, the Olympics started in Greek.  This would make sense if the launched it in January 2014 when the Olympics would be going on.  It would also fit the way Club Penguin seems to be going in recent years.  Every January, Club Penguin seems to have an expedition.  The Wilderness Expidition, The Underwater Expidition, and, most recently, The Prehistoric Party have all happened in this month.  Going back in time with the Time Trekker for a Greek Expedition would make perfect sense.

** Ironically, in August 2012 we were celebrating the Adventure Party: Temple of Fruit - which promoted U.K. business Innocent Smoothies.
