2013 in Review (3/7): Biggest Snubs

While puffles basked in the spotlight the whole year through, many other things were left unrecognized out in the cold (pun intended).  What are these perhaps cool things in the cold (pun also intended)?

The Number on the Postcards
Like some politicians on issues, this number kept flip-flopping back and forth.  One week it was nice and center.  The next, it was messed up.  It was basically the biggest little problem in 2013.

Postcards Themselves
This feature of Club Penguin has been lacking for years.  I'm not even sure if there was a new postcard this year.

The Monsters University Promo Promises
Weeks before the Monsters University Takeover, Club Penguin posted a preview picture that depicted a flag.  That flag bared an uncanny resemblance to one from a Monsters University promo, which led many to believe that there would indeed be a takeover for it.  That same flag appeared later on other promos.

Additionally, we saw an OK flag, PNK flag, ROR foam finger, and books on several pictures.

But were we ever given the chance to obtain these at the party?  Nope.  They were only seen in promo art and on buildings during the party.

Card-Jitsu Snow's Problems
May 2013.  Card-Jitsu Snow is released, leading many to binge-play it.  As a result, many bang their heads on the wall numerous times.

Bugs ran rampant during the Beta Testing, but they may have actually been worse when the game launched.  In fact, I am unable to access the game on my iPad or on the computer at all now days.  Thank goodness I became a Snow Ninja while it at least part way worked....

Merchandise Lovers
While the common complaint is that the U.K. gets so many things, you are scaved even if you live there.  There is no way you can get GeoPalz devices and the Club Penguin Magazine from the same country.

Additionally, there hasn't been much merchandise to go around anywhere.  Club Penguin seems to be trying to get better at this, but still...

Frozen Fans
If you loved the Disney animated movie (I count myself with these people), you may have been a bit excited when you seemingly saw Sven in Penguin Style this month.  That being said, there will be no Frozen Takeover this year.  At least you can take heart in the fact that your movie is burning up the box office (irony intended).  I bet you right now that there will be a sequel!

Twitter Penguins
Believe it or not, when the ball dropped in Times Square in January of this year, you still had a fairly good chance of being able to talk to or get a follow from someone on the Club Penguin Team.  Soon after, that changed.

The Rooms We Lost
Self-explanatory.

The EPF/Herbert
First of all, construction has drug on and, by all indications, has been at a standstill for the past few months.  Additionally, while not as bad as years past, activity is very close to nonexistent and Herbert is rarely heard from.

The Stage
There was not a single new play or update this year!  In fact, the only things that were in a production of a play this year that wasn't there when the play last was at the Stage was A) the sign outside with a new design and font and B) the cover design.  Even the pin in Ruby and the Ruby stayed the same!

Let's move on before I get a migraine.

Oh, too late.

Igloo Artists
There was not a single igloo contest this year.  These people are truly starving artists.

Rockhopper
Two events!  TWO!  And the first one was in September, nine months into the year!

P.H.
Two events!  TWO!

The Puffle Hotel
While I feel puffles were the only things focused on too much this year, the same can not be said for the nice Puffle Hotel.  After the Puffle Party, it was barely mentioned.  It got one small update in November that didn't even get a proper sentence in the paper.

Rainbow Puffle Harrowers
Those of us who suffered the bugs and waiting game of getting a new puffle were then slapped in the face when the time between quests was divided by three.  Then, even those who got the lucky second time to work with joined the veterans in being slapped with a new third time: twenty minutes between quests.

I need to lay down now...

As Billybob would say, Waddle On!
