Summer Secured?

Before the one that is currently occurring, the last summer oriented party was the Water Party in June 2008.  But this time, could the Summer outing be here to stay?  Will the Teen Beach Movie theme stick?  And what does this mean for the Music/Ultimate Jam and other parties that this current event filled the void of?

With accolades coming left and right from Club Penguin players, this newest Summer Jam will probably stick around.  A summer event has been in great demand for the last few years in the Club Penguin Community so I don't think that the Club Penguin Team would give the community what they wanted and then rip it away from them again.

But can the same be said for the Teen Beach Movie part of it?  Well, I think it is possible that the party could be themed around the DCOM again - if certain events arise.  First off, if Disney Channel decides that Teen Beach Movie is such a hit that they want to spend a big chunk of next summer promoting rebroadcasts of it, then Club Penguin could make use of the characters again.

Also, a few weeks ago, Ross Lynch gave an interview to the Hollywood Reporter.  In it, he was asked if he and the cast wanted to star in a followup to the original.  He said:

"We're all down for a sequel."

I think that if a sequel was created, Club Penguin might bring the world back into their game - with slight updates, most likely.

But will one happen?  Well, in the aforementioned article, the author talks about the success of the film:

"Teen Beach Movie is not only a bona fide hit for Disney Channel, but it's becoming the gift that keeps on giving.

The network's original movie pulled in 8.4 [million] viewers in its July 19 premiere. After all the Live+7 data became available, that number rose to 13.5 million, making it the No. 2 most-watched movie in cable TV history. The movie's soundtrack is still in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 after three weeks, and the DVD is tracking to be Disney's top seller for the year."

With these numbers in my mind, it's pretty easy to say that Disney will jump at a sequel.  If one does happen, I don't believe it will be able to be completed by next year.  However, a 2015 release is plausible - meaning that the movie's crew could return then.

I could also see the Teen Beach Movie theme leaving and the party continuing.  Club Penguin would only have to make a few small adjustments to wipe away the theme of this year's party in followup years.

But onto the final question - what does this mean for party's that were combined with the 2007 Summer Party - the Water Party, Adventure Party, and Music/Ultimate Jam?  Well, I think all of these parties have a fair chance of returning on there own, without the summer theme.

The Water Party probably has the least hopeful odds of all these guys - it has not been seen since 2008 and blends in pretty well with the overall summer theme.  But, that's not to say it's beyond the realm of possibility.

The Adventure Party and Music Jam have more hopeful prospects, having last appeared in full a mere year ago and not having strong ties to summer.  The argument can also be made that like the Ultimate Jam, this Summer Jam is a Music Jam, with large alterations, due to its strong emphasis on music and its name.

But these three parties have an uphill battle - there have only two parties that have left for a year and then came back (not counting the Summer Jam) - the Easter Egg Hunt and St. Patrick's Day parties (it should also be noted that after returning, they were once again omitted in 2013).

However, I do think there's hope.  Ideally, I hope that there is a summer party next year, followed by Music Jam, with a possible appearance from the Water Party or Adventure Party.  If they don't come back, these parties will be greatly missed.  But hope lives.
