The Many Versions of Darth Vader

When Club Penguin crosses over with Star Wars in the near future, it will join a long line of established properties that have gotten a galactic makeover.  So, what do penguins, an adult comedy, birds with an anger management problem, and talking cars have in common?

First up on the list is a property with a long running deal with Lucasfilms.  For over twenty years, the Star Wars characters have been being built with Lego bricks.  And, with four video games (and a fifth on the way), and various other Lego Star Wars merchandise on store shelves, this partnership will probably continue for years to come.

Then there's the raunchy adult comedy Family Guy.  Personally, I dislike this show quite a bit, so let's move on to more pleasant things.

As far as other Disney properties are concerned, Disney/Pixar's Cars franchise has had the same treatment.  A few years ago, a life sized tow truck deemed Darth Mater was auctioned off for charity.  The car was also autographed by John Lasseter, the creator of the Cars universe.

Then, for this year's Star Wars Celebration at Walt Disney World, several other Cars characters were given the Star Wars treatment, with new designs in art and diecast form.

Then there is Play-Doh.  When did that happen?

Following this, there was the Angry Birds franchise's tie in.  With it came an app, stuffed toys, costumes, action figures, key chains, fruit snacks, and - seriously, what don't they license this to?

And now, after those things and others, comes Club Penguin...
