The Puffle to End All Puffles?

It's been months since PH first pointed towards the skies and told us that a new type of puffle had been discovered - the long fabled Rainbow Puffle.  It was the eleventh puffle ever found (my lucky number!).  And even though that was in March, there is still a relevant question around it - could it be the last?

The Rainbow Puffle had been rumored for years before its release.  There was fan art for it.  There was a YouTube video that had mocked up to make you believe that someone had actually adopted one.  It was even said that if you tipped the Iceberg, the Rainbow Puffle would come to you.

So, it was with great surprise when it was finally revealed to be "real" in the Club Penguin canon, at least to me.  Unlike ninjas, I thought Rainbow Puffles would remain merely a dream for Club Penguin players - not a full fledged sparkle-farting reality.  But, when you really come down to it I almost think Club Penguin (for lack of a better term) shot itself in the foot by releasing the rumored puffle.

You see, if you really think about it, can you go grander than a puffle with several colors?  A regular, one colored puffle would feel out of place coming after a Rainbow Puffle.  And a dotted puffle or something of the like still feels a bit too ordinary in one way or another.  If you were to go grander than this Rainbow Puffle, you would almost have to release fan-favorite Golden Puffle.  However, if this were to arise, Quest for the Golden Puffle would never be able to return to the Stage.  It's almost as though Club Penguin can't release another puffle.

And then there's the Puffle Care Quest.  While it was rather simple, it is the most "epic" way to get a puffle (not counting the limited time brown puffle expedition).  It would be weird to do another quest for the next puffle or go back to just going to the Pet Shop and purchasing one.

Additionally, with the addition of the Rainbow Puffle, Club Penguin did something that really surprised me: they didn't raise the puffle count by two like they had for every single other new puffle's first outing.  This seemed to say to me that Club Penguin thought you would be insane to own 22 puffles and that they would be teaching you to be a creepy cat lady they were pretty much done with releasing new puffles.  After all, several penguins already were tied up with twenty puffles and I don't think Club Penguin would release very many more that these people would be unable to get.  One even surprises me.

However, there is hope.  As Polo Field told a crowd of bloggers at the famous Club Penguin Summit this year, the Rainbow Puffle was largely brought about due to the droves of fans who wanted it.  If people want another puffle a lot, Club Penguin will probably try to see what they can do.  I just think that puffles who have been pretty much confirmed to be fictional in the Club Penguin Canon (think the Golden Puffle from its Stage play) will never see the light of day - as far as the light from our igloos is concerned.

  1. I think you have made a point there, if CP releases a 1 colour puffle, it's too bland. If they release The Golden Puffle, they lose out on their most popular play!

  2. The last puffle I expected for March was the Rainbow one. The first ones I had in my mind were those animal puffles. Y'know, those animal puffles we've been seeing for SO LONG! All we can do is transform into them. I wanna adopt one, not transform into them. If CP released those puffles at all, I'd so do an epicer quest for them. Also I feel like Rainbow Puffles are overrated. The epic quest and all but you can't do anything with them. Sure walk them and stuff but you can't play Pufflescape, Puffle Launch and they can't play with any furniture. In reality they are just a big ripoff. And for a while now if you paid CLOSE attention Club Penguin has being hinting about something "Under The Burg" for a while now. A real life card-jitsu card even claims the Golden Puffle lives under the iceberg. Golden Puffles might as well be what's under that frozen Shark in the iceberg. Also, have you noticed penguins live in the southern half of Club Penguin and that a series of mountains block civilization to a ton of open wilderness penguins never explored before? And why can we transform into puffle animals and not adopt them? Club Penguin still has many mysteries to unfold about puffles until then.

    1. I agree that an animal puffle or golden puffle would be cool. I find the under the berg thing interesting - I think the iceberg will tip at some point as a plot for an event.
