Plurality is Everything

WARNING: You are entering geek territory.  The following fairly long blog post is being written because of a single letter.  ONE syllable.  That's all you need to know about it.  Read on - if you dare!

Seriously.  This is your last chance to turn back.

Are you sure you want to continue?  Final chance.

OK, don't say I didn't warn you...

Since Club Penguin's inception, the Team has released three apps - Puffle Launch, Puffle Launch Lite, and My Penguin.  Earlier this summer, the former two apps were removed from the App Store and Google Play.  This was because the apps were outdated as far as app laws were concerned - they would require some major updates in order to stay in the store.  This leaves only one app - the (as of now) iPad exclusive My Penguin app.

However, if you look on Club Penguin's website the last tab link at the top of the page is "Apps."  Yes, "Apps" with an "s."  Why would Club Penguin have that as the page name if there was only one app?  They added that page header after the My Penguin app came out.  And, while for a little while all three apps were displayed there, you'd think they would have changed it if they had decided to put all of Club Penguin's mobile stuff on My Penguin right before its launch, which I think had been their plan since the idea of the app came in their heads.  They may have forgotten or been too busy, but still.  It's on several other pages too.  Does this mean there are more apps on the horizon?

Let's start with what we know: the My Penguin app has several new features in the pipeline.  These include (according to Club Penguin's files and other sources) availability on other platforms, a possible port of Puffle Launch, the Club Penguin Times, and a new exclusive color.

Outside of what may be coming to My Penguin, we don't know a lot.  There have been bread crumbs over the years which pointed to a Card-Jitsu app (Card-Jitsu on mobile makes sense - why would you have a spin-off to a game on mobile and not the original?).  The latest (and most credible) of these came earlier this year when an app developer released a promo picture with two screenshots from the game and some info about working with Disney and Club Penguin.  It can be seen below.

In the picture, the developer states that they worked with Club Penguin on several apps.  Could these be the coming to players at some point?

But, not so fast.  There is another layer to it that is trying its hardest to confuse us all.  Spike Hike said a while back on Twitter that a Card-Jitsu app is not in development, that it didn't exist.

But, this makes no sense when you look at the picture.  It looks so official, the app looks so refined, that I am almost convinced there is no way it could be fan art.  Could Spike Hike have meant that while the app didn't exist, the game on mobile would exist on My Penguin?  Could Card-Jitsu, along with the other games implied, have originally been destined for their own apps but are actually being put in My Penguin?

The only other crumb of info we have is from the famous information giver of 2013 - April's Club Penguin Summit.  At the event a picture of a Club Penguin app on the iPhone (with new, never before seen artwork), seen in a picture from one of the attendees of the event below, was presented during a slideshow.  Could this be My Penguin for the iPhone/iPod Touch with a redesigned main screen (or maybe completely redesigned port of the app) or another app entirely?

So, in closing, I believe that My Penguin will most likely become the exclusive port for Club Penguin on the go, which is a very sound plan that makes sense.  It will soon be coming to iPhone, Android, and other platforms (most likely in the exact same form as on the iPad), so I guess you could consider those different apps.  I think that Club Penguin originally planned to release individual game apps, but has now taken the approach of having one place to put all content.  I also think that the apps that another company helped make, including Card-Jitsu, are coming to My Penguin.  I could be wrong though.  You never know what "those Club Penguin people" are going to do.  That should be evident after eight years.

(Oh, and before you call me crazy for writing a long blog post about a single letter, here's a nice Gif to distract you.)
