April Fool's Day's Swan Song?

Has the April Fools Day Party gotten the ax permanently or is there hope?

2013 has been a year of surprises.  There were the new penguin designs.  Then the updated catalog look.  And now there is not going to be an April Fools Day Party.

This will be the first ever full year of Club Penguin without one.  2006 saw the first release of this party and until now, it had been a tradition on the island.  While last year's party was a bit down-sized, this still is a surprise - there was no indication that it would be absent until about a week ago when Spike Hike said so.

The only good news I have is that parties and events based on real life holidays seem to fare better when it comes to being safely returned after being omitted.  Take the last time we had to deal with a traditional party getting a pink slip - the St. Patrick's Day Party 2010.  Having appeared in 2006 - 2009 it was a great shock when it was missing from the 2010 party schedule.  However, while it went on two year hiatus, it appeared in mini form at the Mine during the 2012 Puffle Party.  While albeit,  it was in only one room, it came back, which is something.  Whether it will make another cameo this year is up in the air.

On the event side of things, we had a great shakeup when the Easter Egg Hunt was removed from the schedule, having appeared previously in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.  However, it came back in full glory the following year and 2012.  While the Puffle Party will run over it if it happens, it is unknown if it will be back this year.

And, if it is any constellation, the Red Nose Day event kind of fills the purpose of this party this year, having the joking around theme and all.  So, while the April Fools Day Party may not come in all of its outrageous glory, this year it's not forgotten, either.
