Review: Marvel Superhero Takeover 2013

With the transformation of Club Penguin into Penguintropolis in full swing, is this party good?  Is it better than last year's endeavor?

Design:
- The look of city Club Penguin is great.  Nearly every room that was decorated last year is different, which is nice.  I only wish that more interiors of rooms were decorated.
- Isn't the sign outside the Clothes Shop stating "Free items for everyone" a little misleading when it does not have the catalog?  Couldn't Club Penguin re-add the design of the interior from last year instead of leaving it plain?
- The games have a nice, simplistic design.  Super Hero Bounce is full of a bunch of neat little details.
- Costumes and free items have cool features and are designed very well.
- There are good nods to Marvel.
- The use of the hospital from Operation: Blackout is a perfect addition.

Score: 7/10 (Could use a few more decorated rooms)

Sound:
- The main city music that Screenhog composed last year is back and is still great.
- There are some nice sound effects in certain rooms.
- The only new track is some heavy metal music which sounds pretty good.  I only wish there were a few more tracks.

Score: 6/10 (Could use a more varying sound track)

Features:
- The two new games are simple but fun.  The free items that tie into the games are also a great incentive to keep people coming back.  After all, I spent about an hour in total trying to get the Hero Hoodie and Super Hero Hoodie.
- The Super Hero Hoodie offers enough challenge for older players to keep things interesting.
- The various free items you can get are really creative and very interesting.  They also have nice actions.
- The ability to hone robots is also a great feature and gives people a reason to keep playing Robot Factory.
- New free items every day is a good system.
- Searching for Aunt Arctic will keep you busy.
- Seeing what items you can interact with around the island is really cool.
- Roleplaying is a strong asset to this party which will keep many busy

Features Score: 9/10 (Has good, Club Penguin created features; Quite a bit to do)

Replay-ability Score: 7/10 (Has a lot of things to do, but features are small and can't really be done again and again)

Will it Return?:
Having returned two years in a row, this party has pretty much crossed over into traditional territory, meaning it will probably continue to return.  And, with several other Marvel films coming out in the next few years, I think this party may continue to change months in the future to accommodate them.  Whether it will be completely altered again in the future is still up in the air.

Final Thoughts:
This party is pretty good.  While I'm not extremely into Marvel, I am enjoying it.  It is better than last year's endeavor and something I wouldn't mind seeing again.  Maybe next year they could add costumes for the people behind the mask - a Peter Parker costume, a Tony Stark costume, ect.

Overall Score: 7/10

As Billybob would say, Waddle On!
