The LEGO Logistics

*The subject of this post was suggested by PufflePal26.  Thanks a bunch!

It's been a dream of the LEGO builder in me since I first started this snowy virtual world:  Club Penguin LEGO sets.  I've wanted them for years, but could the wait be finally over?

Back in 2010, LEGO retained the Walt Disney licence, having lost it years earlier.  Since then, LEGO has released sets for some Disney properties, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars, Toy Story, and The Lone Ranger (Fun Fact: Spike Hike worked on creating some of these before he started working full time on Club Penguin).  This was the first part of a road that has seemed to be paved for Club Penguin.

But, you may ask, how would a virtual world make it into a LEGO set?  Club Penguin is wildly popular and all, but still, that whole notion isn't normal for LEGO.  If they make licensed sets, they are usually based on a movie.  A couple times in recent years, there have been TV show and comic book properties in LEGO form, but not virtual worlds.

That is, not until very recently.

In June of last year, LEGO unveiled Minecraft LEGO sets.  While Minecraft is very different from Club Penguin, this shows that LEGO is open to making sets based on video games.

Next, we go to a source that has surprisingly become an information powerhouse in recent months.  It confirmed the Star Wars Takeover and has given us several other Club Penguin tidbits to chew on.  I'm talking about Club Penguin Support emails.

This past month, a fan sent an email to Club Penguin asking a question about CP merchandise.  In the response, an employee admitted that the Team hasn't released many products lately.  However, they did say that they were planning a relaunch of sorts soon.  While I'm pretty sure that LEGO is not working on Club Penguin stuff right at this moment, could LEGO sets be part of this sometime after it starts?

Finally, we move onto a LEGO CUUSOO project that has stirred up quite a bit of buzz.  For those unfamiliar, LEGO CUUSOO is a site where LEGO fans can petition for certain sets to be made.  These sets then can be voted on.  Once the proposed set has at least 10,000 votes, LEGO will look at the petition and may actually make the set.

A Club Penguin set was added awhile ago and it has gained some attention.  Some fan attention, yes.  But also some BIG attention.

The attention of Spike Hike.

Spike has said that he will support the project in a What's New Blog post.  With Club Penguin and LEGO seeing that people want sets based on our world, it seems that there could be a chance that Disney would work with LEGO to create some.

And here's another reason why this CUUSOO project is significant: that Minecraft partnership mentioned above?  It was brought about due to a petition on the CUUSOO LEGO site.  Could us Club Penguin fans have that luck?

This LEGO CUUSOO set can be found here.  You can follow the project on Twitter here and visit their blog here.  Go vote and follow - I sure did!  Supporting the project is one of the best ways players can try and get sets created.

Who knows?  With this project, and maybe some paper signing with LEGO and Disney, we could have some takeovers, maybe even with LEGO specific properties, like Legends of Chima.  I might even have the Gift Clothes Shop setting proudly on my shelf in the future.
