Best Innovation of the Year
The Moving Room
The road and wave rooms were incredibly popular at the Summer Jam in August and the train rails have proved the same for the final party of the year. This new dynamic opens up a multitude of possibilities for parties in the future.

Best Surprise of the Year
Rainbow Puffles
This update came completely out of leftfield as far as I was concerned. I never ever dreamed of a rainbow puffle and was pretty delighted when they were revealed - I just wasn't delighted in the way they were revealed.
Best Line of the Year
"One of my favorite things to do is competitive ironing..." - Rookie
This statement from Rookie way back in October perfectly shows the quirkiness of his personality.

Best Video of the Year
Star Wars Takeover Cinematic Trailer
Say whatever you will about Takeovers and Star Wars. However, you can not deny the great animation and references in this video. Sneak peek videos have nothing on this.
Rather ironically, this video got the most hate of any video ever created by Club Penguin due to the fact that many Star Wars fans were not keen on the idea of a Club Penguin crossover. Did they have this reaction when Angry Birds got the license?
Best Storyline of the Year
Garianna
I love when Club Penguin parties effect each other, as Operation: Puffle did by giving Coins For Change coins to collect on trains. But, rather than affecting one party, Garianna managed to effect three events.
Garianna, a rather interesting character in and of herself, gave us the potion book that affected the Medieval Party drastically. This potion book affected the Halloween Party in turn by taking Gary away from the action to study it. And, then, the Gold O'Berries found at the Medieval Party allowed P.H. to grow a plant at the Pet Shop that then allowed us to find and adopt gold puffles. Genius!

Best Room of the Year (New, Redesigned, Limited Time Access, or Newly Decorated)
Fraternity Row (Monsters University Takeover Party Room)
This was a very hard category to narrow down. But, I feel that one of the most important rooms at the Monsters University event really takes the cake. The room, an incredibly colorful one, is a pretty faithful representation of the movie, with details running abound.
Honorable Mention:
Ski Hill (Card Jitsu Snow Party Decoration)

Best Item/Outfit of the Year (Male)
Jazzy Gray Shirt
This suave outfit is a new found favorite of mine. I really love the color to it and how it looks both on the sprite and in artwork.

Best Item/Outfit of the Year (Female)
The Snow Day/Snow Style Jacket
This outfit struck me as a nice one, even though of course I would never wear it. The colors all compliment each other and the varying textures are nice.
Best Item/Outfit of the Year (Both Genders)
Space Squid Costume
Who doesn't love the action and noise this costume makes? Who doesn't love the design of it?

Best Music of the Year (Score or Lyrical)
Operation: Puffle Main Theme
This was another really tough category to narrow down. I've always been a sucker for Club Penguin music. But, on top of that, I've always been a sucker for secret agent Club Penguin music. This is why this theme struck me so greatly. One great thing about it is that it has several different parts that sound like they could be from completely different songs. This is also a great melody to hit home the stealth of the EPF and the despair of the current situation.

Best Game of the Year (New or Rebooted)
Card-Jitsu Snow
This newest entry in the Card series is probably the most ambitious creation Club Penguin has ever given us, having taken years to make. From the vast replayability of the game (there are so many items, stamps, and videos to uncover), to the groundbreaking gameplay mechanics (part of the CPNext technology) this game is rather complex. The break from the familiar staples of past Jitsu games is rather interesting. While it had and still has its bugs, this game is quality - gameplay-wise, storyline-wise, and all.

Best Party of the Year (Tie)
1.1: Star Wars Takeover
While many spit in the name of takeovers, I see the light at the end of the tunnel. This takeover in particular is a great example of how to make an incredibly pleasant one.
The Star Wars Takeover does almost everything right. It gives an accurate representation of the source material, with references abound. It was also created by Star Wars fans and the actual company behind Star Wars. However, it doesn't shut out anyone who has no clue what is going on; enough Club Penguin is left underneath that it is still accessible. It also allows itself to be very full of variety. From the planets that are polar opposites of each other, to the various quality party games, to great mix of costumes, to the various examples of interactivity, this party allows itself to be many things at the same time. It also gave us things to look forward to over the entire party. And, along with all this, the party gave my computer the gift of very little lag. I also found the party to be pretty bug free.
The character cross-overs, while mind-boggling, were full of quality, care, and humor and really helped the party become something special. Aside from that, the logic of Star Wars coming to Club Penguin was made into a pretty good bridge, albeit one that shouldn't be taken to seriously. Herbert's mascot appearance was brilliantly placed, allowing us to see the normally reclusive bear.
This party also shows that Club Penguin isn't afraid of embracing darker content. I see as a significant milestone that could effect many things in the future.
Sure, this party committed a few sins on its way to domination. But, not a single party is perfect.
If 2014 brings it back, I will be a very happy penguin indeed. And maybe an Indiana Jones party is in order, as well?

Best Party of the Year (Tie)
1.2: Monsters University Takeover
Call me cynical on Disney's behalf for putting takeovers on top of my list. However, I believe that takeovers really came out with some great content this year. And the Monsters University Takeover was no different. While less expansive than the previous takeover, it still gains its number one slot fairly. Let me explain.
First off, this party is a Pixar fanatic's (also known as: me) dream come true. From the little details that only those who watched the movie would pick up, to the great costume designs (even Mike's costume, which I listed as one of the worst items of the year in my last post, looks at least a little nice, even if it had more potential), to the rooms with a variety of colors (something seen rarely at other parties - like the Halloween and Medieval ones), this party was a joy. I spent the most time online during this event this year.
The expansiveness of this party almost matches Star Wars' shindigs. There are the costumes that cover every major character (even the forty-fifty year old ones). There are the party rooms, which all look distinctly different to each other. And there is the challenging, fun party game that dared you to ace it. Additionally, this party expands on the movie, with new content created in conjunction with Pixar.
The Fair-like set up of this party was nice and the competitiveness between teams was a nice addition that really was embraced by many people. This type rivalry was never fully realized with the color teams at sports parties, so it was nice to see this new dynamic that welcomed even those who hadn't the foggiest of a clue about what was going on.
And, just as the Star Wars party signified a change in tone for Club Penguin that we had never really seen before, the Monsters University event also showed us something else new. This was the first true Takeover, I believe. The Marvel and Shake It Up events before it had only partially embraced the source material; this party was all out Monsters. While there was still meat left underneath for those who were only there for the penguins, this party was clearly made to be a companion with the movie - with so many rooms dressed to look like they were from the Pixar universe.
I would love to see this party return next year. I would also love to see other Pixar franchises get ported. We need Lightning and Lightyear.
