Review: The Fair 2015

Last year's Fair had a few fatal flaws, but really on the whole wasn't bad.  Could it be fixed this year?

In my review of the 2014 Fair, I ended my article with the quote, "2014's party should be remembered as an event with so much potential - great art, great music, great concepts, great variety - that was brought to its knees by some faulty decisions."

What faulty decisions?  How could we forget?  There was the debacle that was the Daily Spin Wheel, with its unguaranteed exclusive items and the prize selection's unhealthy inflation.  I was perfectly ready to call the Fair of 2014 one of the greatest parties of all time until I discovered those two snags.

But guess what?  They are fixed this year.  Both of them.  Yeah, really.

The Daily Spin Wheel now comprises of only coins and standard/silver tickets to collect.  While the silver tickets still are useless to members, this change means that everything on the wheel can be gotten through another channel - whether that be through playing Fair games, playing regular games, or buying a membership.

This prizes were also lowered in cost this year, with Club Penguin even admitting in the newspaper that last year's prices were ridiculous.  The new prizes this year are also a better mix; last year, we got lots variants of cars, motorcycles, and puffle hats.  This year, few things are repeated in such a way and the new items are more exciting.

Other things were cool, but less worthy of praise.  The new Medieval rooms and accompanying music were nice additions.  The transformations didn't offer a lot of new content, but were also nice.  Superhero Bounce fits in well with the Fair games and the opportunity to get that elusive hoodie once again is cool.

And that's about it.

Everything else is the same as last year.  Is that a bad thing?  No, not really (though having the Penguin Band actually walk around this time would have been cool).

In closing, the Fair of 2015 offers challenge, lots of variety, and quite a bit of content.  It would have been nice if there were more new additions and if the wait times for Fair prizes were eliminated, but when considering the stellar updates that came directly from player feedback, it's clear that this party is a winner.

Score: 8.5/10
